Where will I work?

ISA’s survey also analysed Employment Sectors:

  • 65% of ISA memberswork in the private sector
  • 17% in the public sector
  • 6% in the academic sector.
  • 13% of members are retired.
  • 72% of members are in full-time employment
  • 10% working as contractors or consultants.

Will my work change over my career?

The survey also analysed Employment Patterns:
Senior spatial scientists generally spend less time directly involved with a particular surveying task, and more time on administration and marketing. They spend less time studying but more time on professional matters.

Senior academics spend less time on research and more on administration.
