SOCIAL ACTIVITIES

 

Accompanying Persons Program

Delegates are invited to bring partners and families to Brisbane and to include them in social activities during the congress. A Coffee Club will be organised on wednesday morning to introduce accompanying persons to each other and to plan activities for the duration of the congress.

 

Fishing Trip

A fabulous way to start the congress with a morning fishing before Congress registration. There’s nothing like being on the water off beautiful South-East Queensland. The cost is $65. Please complete section C of the registration form.

 

Welcome Reception/Opening of Technical Exhibition

Venue: Plaza Foyer, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre

Time : 6:00pm - 8:00pm

Dress: Smart Casual

An invitation is extended to all delegates to attend the Welcome Cocktail Party/Opening of Technical Exhibition to be held in Technical Exhibition area. Renew old friendships and make new acquaintances as we welcome you to 2001 – A Spatial Odyssey.

The cost of the Welcome Cocktail Party is included in the registration fee for all Delegates, Delegates with Young Surveyor and Young Surveyors. Additional tickets can be purchased for $50. Please complete Section C of the registration form.

 

Pub Night

Venue: Pubs around Southbank and Brisbane CBD

Time: 7:00pm - ??

Dress: Smart Casual

A fun-filled night is planned for the younger surveyors and delegates who enjoy the odd drink. Join us for a few drinks visiting some of the local pubs around Brisbane. Expression of interest and details of the night will be available at the registration desk at the Congress.

 

Congress Dinner

Venue: Grand Ballroom, Plaza Level, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre

Time: 7:00 pm for 7:30pm - 12 midnight

Dress: Lounge Suit

Entertainment: Chris "Buddha" Handy

Music: Midnight Groove

A memorable highlight of the Congress will be the Congress Dinner, which is being held in the Grand Ballroom, Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. Enjoy a three-course dinner while being entertained by various performers. The Congress Dinner provides an ideal opportunity to mingle and meet fellow delegates, a chance to reflect on the Congress, to celebrate with colleagues and to plan the next gathering.

The Australian Excellence in Surveying Awards will be presented at the congress dinner.

The cost of the Congress Dinner is included in the registration fee for Full delegates, Delegates with Young Surveyor and Young Surveyors. Additional tickets can be purchased for $90. Please complete Section C of the registration form.

 

Golf

Venue: The Brisbane Golf Club

Dress: No spike policy, no sandshoes, dress code applies (white socks only, dress shorts, collared shirt)

A wonderful way to enjoy the Brisbane sunshine at the end of the conference. 8am to 9am tee-off. Departure will be in the lower foyer at 7am and travelling via car pool. Return to the convention centre around 3pm. Lunch is available, but not included. There are limited motorised carts and club and push buggy hire is also available. The cost of golf is $40. Please complete Section C of the registration form.

 

Farewell Barbeque

Venue: River Canteen

Time : 5:30pm - 10:30pm

Dress: Smart Casual

End the Congress in a relaxed and informal way with a glass of wine beside the Brisbane River. It will be time to reflect on the Congress and to farewell colleagues.

The cost of the Farewell Barbeque is included in the registration fee for Full delegates, Delegates with Young Surveyor and Young Surveyors. Additional tickets can be purchased for $50 (incl. GST). Please complete Section C of the registration form.
